AAAS announces 2011 fellows

WASHINGTON and HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Richard M. Myers, Ph.D., president and director of HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

“Considering the many exciting advances and discoveries taking place across the spectrum of science, I am honored to be included among this year’s fellows,” said Myers. Myers, formerly chair of the department of genetics at the Stanford University School of Medicine, stepped up to guide genomic research when HudsonAlpha launched its facilities and programs in 2008.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Dec. 13, 2011Stratolaunch Systems has selected Dynetics to provide overall technical integration and the mating and integration system hardware for a revolutionary air launch system.  The system is being designed as a responsive, affordable system to deliver cargo and humans to space. This program will establish Huntsville as a leader in the commercial space launch business, according to Dynetics officials.

It dealt with the absurdity of pageants and included judges chosen from the audience to pick a winner. Sullivan, Commander, U.S. Army Materiel Command (USAMC) Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) – Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.  COL Sullivan’s presentation was focused on an overview of the Logistics Support Activity and their support of the warfighter.  COL Sullivan’s remarks were fitting for a professional association dedicated to providing networking, problem solving and support disciplines for the logistics and engineering community.  This event was attended by professionals in the aerospace and defense industry as well as civic and academic leaders.

ROCKET CITY SPACE PIONEERS RELEASE FREE IPAD APPLICATION

Huntsville, Ala. (Dec. 1, 2011) – The Rocket City Space Pioneers (RCSP), the Huntsville-centric team competing in the $30 million Google Lunar X PRIZE competition, invite you to launch a rocket from Rocket City to the moon, land on the moon and explore the moon to meet your mission objectives. RCSP has released a free interactive game designed and developed by team member Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) that will allow participants to choose their mission and skill level, and ultimately test their skills in the areas of launching rockets to the moon, landing landers on the moon and racing rovers on the moon.

AEgis Provides 3D Model Content for iPad Military Simulation Game

Huntsville, Alabama (September 8, 2011) - The AEgis Technologies Group provided 3D model content from their 3D Elements Model Library for the iPad Military Simulation game called ArmedForceHD. The game was released on August 21 by Airborne Games, LLC, and is currently being sold and distributed on iTunes.

 

3D Elements is a Real-Time Library of 3D models optimized for the simulation and training market. The models are also being used by analysts for homeland defense security applications. While this is not the first use of the models in a game environment, this is the first time the models have been used for an iPad game application. AEgis 3D Elements models have previously been used in VBS2 game based training environments.

Dynetics Joins Space Transportation Association

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Sept. 8, 2011 – Officials at Dynetics, a provider of commercial and government space-related products and services – as well as aviation, missiles, cyber and intelligence offerings – announced today the company has joined the Space Transportation Association (STA).  The objective of STA is to support policies that advance robust, affordable space transportation for NASA, the Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial markets. The Association’s corporate members are launch manufacturers and launch service providers.
